Look: Multiple Cover Photos

A picture is worth a thousand words. So what about three pictures? Or more?

You now have the option of uploading multiple cover photos to your products. When you go to a product’s edit page, hover over your existing cover and you’ll see a button to upload another. New product? No cover yet? Upload your first cover, then hover and click for the next. And the next, and the next, and the next… up to eight. What, were you going to upload an entire book or something?

We hope this opens up a lot of doors for you. Now you can show a close-up of a design followed by a shot of a model in your t-shirt. Or the other way around. Up to you.

Got a book? Show the cover followed by an excerpt. Put up that back-of-the-book copy to reel in your readers.

You can mix it up with photos, audio, and video. Show your movie trailer and a couple of stills. Upload a few tracks and the cover art from your new album.

Slideshow dots will be added to products with multiple covers, and navigation arrows will appear when a cover is hovered over.

We’ve established that products with covers convert twice as much as products without, so what happens when you have two or three covers? Hey, no promises without data, but who knows?

Keeping your Gallery in mind

Your Gallery (or profile page), is your audience’s one-stop shop for products you sell with Gumroad. While your cover images can be any size you want, there are a few snap-to modular sizes you should be aware of for organizational reasons.

  • Square: 333 x 333 pixels
  • Tall rectangle: 333 x 700 pixels
  • Wide rectangle: 700 x 333 pixels
  • Wider rectangle: 1066 x 333 pixels

The default display size of a cover on your profile page is a square measuring 333 pixels by 333 pixels. For a product’s cover itself, we recommend at least 2x those dimensions for quality’s sake. If your cover image is a little wider than square, the edges will be cut off in gallery view. So make sure you have room for that when designing your covers if you plan on using this page.

You can stretch and move your displayed covers when logged in and on your page. Want a particular product to stand out? Go for a large square, which sits at 700 pixels by 700 pixels.

Stretch a cover all the way across for a full-width, can’t-miss-it banner.

So until our species evolves to no longer judge books (and more) by their covers, do what you can to get the upper hand. Offer a few more points of view, and dress up your work to get it the attention it deserves.

We love hearing from you. Please reach out with any questions or comments about sharing and selling your work.
