A preview of what's to come.

First off, we’re working to disentangle payments from Gumroad. Currently, customers pay us, and we pay you. That means: weekly payouts, a higher fee (we need to cover our operational costs), and no flexibility (if PayPal offers a lower fee, you can’t take advantage of it directly).

Going forward, we will allow our premium creators to plug in their own Stripe (credit card) and PayPal accounts. Then, we’ll stop taking a transaction fee, so all you will pay us is the $10 (or so) a month.

Simply: you will get paid instantly for every transaction the second it happens, and Gumroad takes nothing from you.

Secondly, we plan to open source Gumroad. This is a long-term project for us, but it’ll mean that the code that powers Gumroad will be available for you, your grandmother, and even someone who wants to make a Gumroad clone and charge less than us for it.

Lastly - I just want to thank you. I am a creator (I paint! Not well! Follow me!) and I built Gumroad for myself at first. I sold a pencil icon for a buck over six years ago. Gumroad’s a lot bigger now. $120,000,000 in creators’ pockets.

And we’re profitable now. The last three months have been the best three months in Gumroad’s history. That success has let us do this. Success only possible because of you.

So, thank you for letting me build–no, create!–a business I am so proud of, and become more proud of every month.
