Third-Party Analytics and Gumroad

Many services, such as Perfect Audience, Facebook, Twitter, and Google, provide you with ways to track your conversions, set up retargeting, see how your ad campaigns are doing, and more. This usually occurs through blocks of code that you paste between <head> and </head> on your website or landing page. If you’re the type of creator who likes to dig deep into your data and have looked into or are using one of these platforms, you’ve likely come across a request to take this one little snippet of code and put it on your product’s ‘thank you page’ to tell the platform when you make a sale. But there’s one problem. Gumroad products don’t have thank you pages.

This is where our new Third-Party Analytics feature comes in. You can now enter cost snippets from several other software providers directly into Gumroad. Note, Gumroad does not support Mixpanel at this time. Just copy, paste, and (optionally) select the product that it should apply to, or select ‘All products’.

Note: You can only have one analytics code block per product. Rest assured, you can combine snippets from various websites (e.g. combining Facebook and Twitter). Just a reminder, code block for ‘All products’ will run on individual product pages too.

In addition to being able to set conversion pixels for each product in Twitter, Facebook, and Google Ads, you can now also use services like Perfect Audience to manage your retargeting for you.

Let’s say you have a dedicated landing page on your website where you’ve embedded products using the Gumroad Overlay. You put the Perfect Audience site tracking tag on this page so you can show ads to people who’ve already demonstrated interest in your product. However, you only want to show those ads to people who didn’t buy your product.

Create a conversion goal, and select the javascript event method. Then paste both the javascript tracking snippet and the site tracking tag into your Gumroad settings for the right product. You’re in business!

Now you can create ads and campaigns that target only people who didn’t buy, and record conversions on ads that resulted in sales.
